Visuddhimagga I-101

Evaṃ asampādite hi etasmiṃ pātimokkhasaṃvarasīlampi anaddhaniyaṃ hoti aciraṭṭhitikaṃ, asaṃvihitasākhāparivāramiva sassaṃ. Haññate cāyaṃ kilesacorehi, vivaṭadvāro viya gāmo parassa hārīhi. Cittañcassa rāgo samativijjhati, ducchannamagāraṃ vuṭṭhi viya. Vuttampi hetaṃ –

[PTS 037] 然而(根律仪戒)若不如是成就,则别解脱律仪戒亦不能长时存在,犹如没有留意筑以栅[zhà]围的谷田(将为畜等所侵害)一样。又如敞[chǎng]开大门的村落,随时可为盗贼所袭[xí],若无根律仪戒,则亦随时可为烦恼贼所害。亦如不善盖的屋为雨漏所侵,而他的心则为贪欲所侵入。所以这样说:

Ñ(I,101): [37] When not undertaken thus, virtue of Pātimokkha restraint is unenduring: it does not last, like a crop not fenced in with branches. And it is raided by the robber defilements as a village with open gates is by thieves. And lust leaks into his mind as rain does into a badly-roofed house. For this is said:

Sayādaw U Sīlānanda: [restraint is unenduring => restraint also is unenduring].


Han: Burmese translation is same as Ñ translation.



‘‘Rūpesu saddesu atho rasesu,

Gandhesu phassesu ca rakkha indriyaṃ;

Ete hi dvārā vivaṭā arakkhitā,

Hananti gāmaṃva parassa hārino’’.

对于色声味香触,

当护你的一切根。

若对色等门开而不护,

譬如盗劫村落而为害。

Ñ: 'Among the visible objects, sounds, and smells,

And tastes, and tangibles, guard the faculties;

For when these doors are open and unguarded,

Then thieves will come and raid as 'twere[twə] a village' (?).



‘‘Yathā agāraṃ ducchannaṃ, vuṭṭhī samativijjhati;

Evaṃ abhāvitaṃ cittaṃ, rāgo samativijjhatī’’ti. (dha. pa. 13);

譬如恶盖屋,必为雨漏侵,

如是不修心,将为贪欲侵。

Ñ: 'And just as with an ill-roofed house

The rain comes leaking in, so too

Will lust come leaking in for sure

Upon an undeveloped mind' (Dh. 13).
