Visuddhimagga XVI-83

 Evaṃ anuttarāya satiyā saṃrakkhiyamānacittassa taṃsampayuttāva micchāsamādhividdhaṃsikā cittekaggatā sammāsamādhi nāma. So avikkhepalakkhaṇo, samādhānaraso, micchāsamādhippahānapaccupaṭṭhānoti. 

(八)如是以无上的念而守护其心者的──与彼(正念)相应,除灭邪定的心一境性为「正定」;不散乱是它的特相,等持是它的作用,舍断邪定是它的现状。

Ñ(XVI,83): When his mind is thus guarded by supreme mindfulness, the unification of mind, which is associated with that [right view], abolishes wrong concentration, and that is called right concentration. It has the characteristic of non-distraction. Its function is to concentrate. It is manifested as the abandoning of wrong concentration.


Ayaṃ dukkhanirodhagāminipaṭipadāniddese nayo. 

这是导至苦灭之道的解释法。

Ñ: This is the method in the description of the way leading to the cessation of suffering.


Evamettha jātiādīnaṃ vinicchayo veditabbo.

如是当知这四谛中的生等的抉择。

Ñ: This is how the exposition should be understood here as to defining birth and so on.
