Nīvaraṇānīti cittassa āvaraṇanīvaraṇapaṭicchādanaṭṭhena kāmacchandādayo pañca.

「盖」──是心的障、盖、蔽覆之义，有贪欲（瞋恚、惛沉睡眠、掉举恶作、疑）等的五种。

Ñ(XXII,57): The hindrances are the five, namely lust, [ill will, stiffness and torpor, agitation and worry, and uncertainty,] in the sense of obstructing and hindering and concealing [reality] from consciousness (Ch. IV, §86).
