Dutiyacatukke bhikkhū ārabbha paññattasikkhāpadāni, yāni ca nesaṃ bhikkhunīnaṃ paññattito rakkhitabbāni, idaṃ bhikkhusīlaṃ.

Ñ(I,40): 15. In the second tetrad[ˈtetˌræd] there are training precepts announced for bhikkhus to keep irrespective of what is announced for bhikkhunis. This is the virtue of bhikkhus.

Han: Mahāsī Sayādaw’s translation is same as Sayādaw U Sīlānanda’s translation.
Sayādau U Sīlānanda: e.g. There is no rule in the 227 rules that monks must not sing, must not dance, must not go to show, and so on. But there is that rules for Bhikkhuni. So monk must also keep that rules, although it is not included in the 227 rules.

Ñ: The ten precepts of virtue for male and female novices are the virtue of the not fully admitted.
Upāsakaupāsikānaṃ niccasīlavasena pañcasikkhāpadāni, sati vā ussāhe dasa, uposathaṅgavasena aṭṭhāti idaṃ gahaṭṭhasīlanti evaṃ bhikkhusīlādivasena catubbidhaṃ.
优婆塞、优婆夷的常戒五学处,若可能时增为十学处,依布萨支为八学处,此为「在家戒」。这是比丘戒等四种。
Ñ: The five training precepts — ten when possible — as a permanent undertaking and eight as the factors of the Uposatha Day, for male and female lay followers are the virtue of the laity. So it is of four kinds as the virtue of bhikkhus, and so on.

Day= Uposatha].
Han: Yes, please delete “Day”.
Han: When you say the factors of the “Uposatha”, the “Day” is already there, because “uposatha” means Sabbath day; or observance of 8 precepts; or biweekly recitation of the Vinaya rules by the monks. So the word “day” is redundant and not necessary.
Sayādaw U Sīlānanda: [The five training precepts as a permanent undertaking, ten when possible, and eight as the factors of the Uposatha].
The word “Uposatha” in Pāḷi can mean two things, i.e. the observance and the day of observance. But here, the day is not meant. “eight as the factors of the Uposatha” means the eight precepts.
