Visuddhimagga I-97

Uppannānanti jātānaṃ bhūtānaṃ nibbattānaṃ.

「生」为生长或发生之意。

Ñ(I,97): From arisen: from born, become, produced.



Veyyābādhikānanti ettha byābādhoti dhātukkhobho, taṃsamuṭṭhānā ca kuṭṭhagaṇḍapīḷakādayo. Byābādhato uppannattā veyyābādhikā.

「病恼」,恼是四界的变动(四大不调),因为从界的变化而生起疥癞[jiè][lài]发肿脓疱[pào]等,故称病恼。

Ñ: Hurtful: here 'hurt (affliction)' is a disturbance of elements, and it is the leprosy[ˈleprəsi:], tumours, boils, etc., originated by that disturbance. Hurtful (veyyābādhika) because arisen in the form of hurt (byābādha).



Vedanānanti dukkhavedanā akusalavipākavedanā. Tāsaṃ veyyābādhikānaṃ vedanānaṃ.

「受」是苦受,即不善异熟受,而为病恼受。

Ñ: Feelings: painful feelings, feelings resulting from unprofitable kamma—from those hurtful feelings.



Abyābajjhaparamatāyāti niddukkhaparamatāya. Yāva taṃ dukkhaṃ sabbaṃ pahīnaṃ hoti tāvāti attho.

「至究竟无苦」,即至究竟不苦,是为直至断除一切病苦(而受用医药)之意。

Ñ: For complete immunity from affliction: for complete freedom from pain; so that all that is painful is abandoned, is the meaning.



Evamidaṃ saṅkhepato paṭisaṅkhā yoniso paccayaparibhogalakkhaṇaṃ paccayasannissitasīlaṃ veditabbaṃ.

如是简要的如理决择受用资具的特相,即为资具依止戒。

Ñ: This is how this virtue concerning requisites should be understood. In brief its characteristic is the use of requisites after wise reflection.



Vacanattho panettha – cīvarādayo hi yasmā te paṭicca nissāya paribhuñjamānā pāṇino ayanti pavattanti, tasmā paccayāti vuccanti.

其(资具依止的)语义如次:因为人类的来去活动是依赖于受用衣服等,故名资具。

Ñ: The word-meaning here is this: because breathing things go (ayanti), move, proceed, using [what they use] in dependence on these robes, etc., these robes, etc., are therefore called requisites (paccaya = ger. of paṭi + ayati);



Te paccaye sannissitanti paccayasannissitaṃ.

依止于资具,故称资具依止。

Ñ: 'concerning requisites' is concerning those requisites.
