Visuddhimagga II-41

Ayaṃ panānisaṃso, nānārasataṇhāvinodanaṃ. Atricchatāya pahānaṃ, āhāre payojanamattadassitā, thālakādipariharaṇakhedābhāvo, avikkhittabhojitā, appicchatādīnaṃ anulomavuttitāti.

(功德)次为功德:除去种种的味爱,舍弃贪多钵之食欲,知食的定量,无携[xié]带各种容器的麻烦,不散乱于食事,随顺少欲等的生活。

Ñ(II,41): The benefits are these. Craving for variety of tastes is eliminated; excessiveness of wishes is abandoned; he sees the purpose and the [right] amount in nutriment; he is not bothered with carrying saucers, etc., about; **; his life conforms to [the principles of] fewness of wishes and so on.

Han: First, please see the numbers put by Mahāsī Sayādaw.


41. Ayaṃ panānisaṃso, (i) nānārasataṇhāvinodanaṃ. (ii) Atricchatāya pahānaṃ, (iii) āhāre payojanamattadassitā, (iv) thālakādipariharaṇakhedābhāvo, (v) avikkhittabhojitā, (vi) appicchatādīnaṃ anulomavuttitāti.


41. The benefits are these. (i) Craving for variety of tastes is eliminated; (ii) excessiveness of wishes is abandoned; (iii) he sees the purpose and the [right] amount in nutriment; (iv) he is not bothered with carrying saucers, etc., about; (vi) his life conforms to [the principles of] fewness of wishes and so on.
