Visuddhimagga VIII-16

171. Upasaṃharaṇatoti parehi saddhiṃ attano upasaṃharaṇato.

（三）「以比较」──以他人比较自己。

Ñ(VIII,16): 3. By comparison: by comparing oneself to others.

Tattha sattahākārehi upasaṃharaṇato maraṇaṃ anussaritabbaṃ,

即以七种行相作比较而念于死：

Ñ: Herein, death should be recollected by comparison in seven ways, that is to say:

yasamahattato,

（1）以大名，

Ñ: with those of great fame,

puññamahattato,

（2）以大福，

Ñ: with those of great merit,

thāmamahattato,

（3）以大力，

Ñ: with those of great strength,

iddhimahattato,

（4）以大神变，

Ñ: with those of great supernormal power,

paññāmahattato,

（5）以大慧，

Ñ: with those of great understanding,

paccekabuddhato,

（6）以辟支佛，

Ñ: with Paccekabuddhas,

sammāsambuddhatoti.

（7）以等正觉。

Ñ: with fully enlightened Buddhas.
