 Pañcupādānakkhandhā

[(xii) THE FIVE AGGREGATES]

552. Saṃkhittena pañcupādānakkhandhā dukkhāti ettha pana –

Ñ(XVI,57): In short the five aggregates [as objects] of clinging:

Jātippabhutikaṃ dukkhaṃ, yaṃ vuttamidha tādinā;

Avuttaṃ yañca taṃ sabbaṃ, vinā ete na vijjati.

Yasmā tasmā upādāna-kkhandhā saṅkhepato ime;

Dukkhāti vuttā dukkhanta-desakena mahesinā.

(12)「略说五取蕴是苦」,关于此:

如如不动者说生是苦痛的起源,

以及未说的一切苦,除了五蕴不生存。

所以大仙为示苦痛的终灭,

略说此等五取蕴是苦。

Ñ: Now birth and ageing and each thing

Told in describing suffering,

And those not mentioned, could not be

Were there no aggregates for clinging.

Wherefore these aggregates for clinging

Are taken in totality

As pain by Him, the Dhamma's King,

Who taught the end of suffering.
