Dasavidhaappanākosallaṃ

[THE TEN KINDS OF SKILL IN ABSORPTION]



60. Yassa pana evampi paṭipajjato na hoti, tena dasavidhaṃ appanākosallaṃ sampādetabbaṃ.

7.(十种安止善巧)如果这样行道的人依然不得安止定,则他应该成就一种安止善巧。

Ñ(IV,42): However, if this does not happen while he is practising in this way, then he should have recourse to the ten kinds of skill in absorption.

Note in Chinese translation:「十种安止善巧」(dasavidha-appanākosalla),《解脱道论》「安定方便」。



Tatrāyaṃ nayo, dasāhākārehi appanākosallaṃ icchitabbaṃ,

这便是他的方法 ── 当以十种行相而求安止善巧:

Ñ: Here is the method. Skill in absorption needs [to be dealt with in] ten aspects:



vatthuvisadakiriyato,

1)令事物清净,

Ñ: (1) making the basis clean,

Note in Chinese translation:「令事物清净」(vatthuvisada-kiriya),《解脱道论》「令观处明净」。



indriyasamattapaṭipādanato,

2)使诸根平等而行道,

Ñ: (2) maintaining balanced faculties,

Note in Chinese translation:「使诸根平等行道」(indriyasamatta-paṭipādana),《解脱道论》「遍起观诸根」。



nimittakusalato,

3)于相善巧,

Ñ: (3) skill in the sign,

Note in Chinese translation:「于相善巧」(nimitta-kosalla),《解脱道论》「晓了于相」。



yasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ paggahetabbaṃ tasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ paggaṇhāti,

4)当策励于心之时,即策励于心,

Ñ: (4) he exerts the mind on an occasion when it should be exerted,

Note in Chinese translation:「当策励于心之时即策励于心」(yasmim samaye cittam paggahetabbam,tasmij samaye cittam pagganhati)《解脱道论》「折伏懈怠」。



yasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ niggahetabbaṃ tasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ niggaṇhāti,

5)当抑制于心之时,即抑制于心,

Ñ: (5) he restrains the mind on an occasion when it should be restrained,

Note in Chinese translation:「当抑制于心之时即抑制于心」(yasmim samaye cittam niggahetabbamtasmij samaye cittam nigganhati),《解脱道论》「制心令调」。



yasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ sampahaṃsitabbaṃ tasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ sampahaṃseti,

6)当喜悦于心之时,即喜悦于心,

Ñ: (6) he encourages the mind on an occasion when it should be encouraged,

Note in Chinese translation:「当喜悦于心之时即喜悦于心」(yasmij samaye cittaj sampahajsitabbam, tasmij samaye cittaj sampahajseti),《解脱道论》「心欢喜」。



yasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ ajjhupekkhitabbaṃ tasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ ajjhupekkhati,

7)当舍心之时,即舍于心,

Ñ: (7) he looks on at the mind with equanimity when it should be looked on at with equanimity,

Note in Chinese translation:「当舍心之时即舍于心」(yasmij samaye cittam ajjhupekkhitabbam,tasmij samaye cittam ajjhupekkhati),《解脱道论》「心定成舍」。



asamāhitapuggalaparivajjanato,

8)远离无等持的人,

Ñ: (8) avoidance of unconcentrated persons,



samāhitapuggalasevanato,

9)亲近等持的人,

Ñ: (9) cultivation of concentrated persons,



tadadhimuttatoti.

10)倾心于彼(等持)。

Ñ: (10) resoluteness upon that (concentration).
