Visuddhimagga I-44

Ācāragocarasampannotiādīnamattho pāḷiyaṃ āgatanayeneva veditabbo.

[PTS 017]「正行与行处具足」等意义,当知在圣典中已有叙述。

Ñ(I,44): The meaning of possessed of [the proper] conduct and resort, etc., should be understood in the way in which it is given in the text.

Han: This paragraph deals with the definition of Ācāra and Anācāra.
I do not know why Ñ put the word [the proper] in square brackets for "ācāra", throughout the paragraph?

Ācāra = proper conduct.
Anācāra = improper conduct.

Ācāra means proper conduct. I do not think "the proper" need to be put in square brackets.



Vuttañhetaṃ –

‘‘Ācāragocarasampanno’’ti atthi ācāro, atthi anācāro;

即所谓:「正行与行处具足」,先说正行,有不正行与正行。

Ñ: For this is said: 'Possessed of [the proper] conduct and resort: there is [proper] conduct and improper conduct.



Tattha katamo anācāro? Kāyiko vītikkamo vācasiko vītikkamo kāyikavācasiko vītikkamo, ayaṃ vuccati anācāro.

什么是不正行?由于身的违犯、语的违犯,身语的违犯,是名不正行。

Ñ: Herein, what is improper conduct? Bodily transgression, verbal transgression, bodily and verbal transgression — this is called improper conduct.



Sabbampi dussīlyaṃ anācāro.

亦可说一切的恶戒为不正行。

Ñ: Also all unvirtuousness is improper conduct.



Idhekacco veḷudānena vā pattadānena vā pupphaphalasinānadantakaṭṭhadānena vā cāṭukamyatāya vā muggasūpyatāya vā pāribhaṭyatāya vā jaṅghapesanikena vā aññataraññatarena vā buddhapaṭikuṭṭhena micchāājīvena jīvikaṃ kappeti, ayaṃ vuccati anācāro.

兹或有人,(为了生活的某种目的)以竹布施、以叶布施,或以花、果、盥[guàn]洗的粉及齿木等布施,或说谄谀[chǎn yú]语,或说豆汤语,或以抚[fǔ]爱(抚爱他人的孩子),或为走使传讯,或以种种为佛陀所唾[tuò]弃的不正当的生活手段以营求其生活,都称为不正行。

Ñ: Here someone makes a livelihood by gifts of bamboos, or by gifts of leaves, or by gifts of flowers, fruits, bathing powder, and tooth sticks, or by flattery, or by bean-soupery, or by fondling, or by going on errands on foot, or by one or other of the sorts of wrong livelihood condemned by the Buddhas — this is called improper conduct.



Tattha katamo ācāro? Kāyiko avītikkamo vācasiko avītikkamo kāyikavācasiko avītikkamo, ayaṃ vuccati ācāro.

什么是正行?身不违犯,语不违犯,身语不违犯,是名正行。

Ñ: Herein, what is [proper] conduct? Bodily non-transgression, verbal non-transgression, bodily and verbal non-transgression — this is called [proper] conduct.



Sabbopi sīlasaṃvaro ācāro.

亦可说一切的戒律仪为正行

Ñ: Also all restraint through virtue is [proper] conduct.
