Visuddhimagga IX-102

266. Sabbesampi ca etesaṃ kattukāmatā chando ādi, nīvaraṇādivikkhambhanaṃ majjhaṃ, appanā pariyosānaṃ.

（四梵住的初中后）于此等（四梵住）中，以欲行之愿为初，镇伏（五）盖等为中；安止定为后。

[The Beginning, Middle and End, Etc.]

Ñ(IX,102): Now zeal consisting in desire to act is the beginning of all these things. Suppression of the hindrances, etc., is the middle. Absorption is the end.



Paññattidhammavasena eko vā satto aneke vā sattā ārammaṇaṃ.

（增长四梵住的所缘）依假法的一有情或多数有情为（四梵住的）所缘。

Ñ: Their object is a single living being or many living beings, as a mental object consisting in a concept.
