273. Evaṃ tikacatukkajjhānavasena ceva avasesaekajjhānavasena ca dvidhā ṭhitānampi etāsaṃ subhaparamādivasena aññamaññaṃ asadiso ānubhāvaviseso veditabbo.
(四梵住所达的最高处)如是依照(前)三禅及四禅并依照其余的一禅而成立为二种的四梵住,当知根据其最高的清净(解脱)等是有互相不同的特殊的威力的。
[The Highest Limit of Each]
Ñ(IX,119): And while they are twofold by way of the triple-quadruple jhāna and the single remaining jhāna, still they should be understood to be distinguishable in each case by a different efficacy consisting in having 'beauty as the highest', etc.
Haliddavasanasuttasmiṃ hi etā subhaparamādibhāvena visesetvā vuttā. Yathāha – ‘‘subhaparamāhaṃ, bhikkhave, mettaṃ cetovimuttiṃ vadāmi.
即如郁金布经中依照此等(四梵住)的最高的清净(解脱)等而区别的说:「诸比丘!(1)我说慈心解脱以清净(解脱)为最上:
Ñ: For they are so described in the Haliddavasana Sutta, according as it is said: 'Bhikkhus, the mind-deliverance of lovingkindness has beauty as the highest,
Ākāsānañcāyatanaparamāhaṃ, bhikkhave, karuṇaṃ cetovimuttiṃ vadāmi.
诸比丘!(2)我说悲心解脱以空无边处为最上••••••
Ñ: I say … The mind-deliverance of compassion has the base consisting of boundless space as the highest,
Viññāṇañcāyatanaparamāhaṃ, bhikkhave, muditaṃ cetovimuttiṃ vadāmi.
诸比丘!(3)我说喜心解脱以识无边处为最上••••••
Ñ: I say … The mind-deliverance of gladness has the base consisting of boundless consciousness as the highest,
Ākiñcaññāyatanaparamāhaṃ, bhikkhave, upekkhaṃ cetovimuttiṃ vadāmī’’ti (saṃ. ni. 5.235).
诸比丘!(4)我说舍心解脱以无所有处为最上」。
Ñ: I say … The mind-deliverance of equanimity has the base consisting of nothingness as the highest, I say' (S.v,119-21).
