Visuddhimagga XXII-80

832. Etena kiṃ dīpitaṃ hoti? Bhūmiladdhānaṃ kilesānaṃ pahānaṃ dīpitaṃ hoti. Bhūmiladdhā pana kiṃ atītānāgatā udāhu paccuppannāti. Bhūmiladdhuppannā eva nāma te.

此说是指什么而说的呢？这是指断得地的烦恼而说的。然而得地的（烦恼）是过去，是未来，还是现在的呢？它们是得地而生起的。

Ñ(XXII,80): What does that show? It shows abandoning of defilements that have soil [to grow in]. But are defilements that have soil [to grow in] past, future or present? They are simply those described as 'arisen by having soil [to grow in]'.
