‘‘Paṭhamassa jhānassa sampahaṃsanā pariyosānaṃ, pariyosānassa kati lakkhaṇāni?

「初禅的喜悦为后」，后相有几种？

Ñ(IV,113): '"Of the first jhāna satisfaction is the end": how many characteristics has the end?

Pariyosānassa cattāri lakkhaṇāni, tattha jātānaṃ dhammānaṃ anativattanaṭṭhena sampahaṃsanā, indriyānaṃ ekarasaṭṭhena sampahaṃsanā, tadupagavīriyavāhanaṭṭhena sampahaṃsanā, āsevanaṭṭhena sampahaṃsanā.

后相有四：（1）以初禅所生诸法互不驾凌义为喜悦，（2）以诸根一味（作用）义为喜悦，（3）以适当的精进乘义为喜悦，（4）以数数习行义为喜悦。

Ñ: The end has four characteristics. The satisfaction in the sense that there was non-excess of any of the states arisen therein, and the satisfaction in the sense that the faculties had a single function, and the satisfaction in the sense that the appropriate energy was effective, and the satisfaction in the sense of repetition,

Paṭhamassa jhānassa sampahaṃsanā pariyosānaṃ, pariyosānassa imāni cattāri lakkhaṇāni.

这是初禅的喜悦为后 ── 此等即后四相。

Ñ: are the satisfaction in the end of the first jhāna. These are the four characteristics of the end.

Tena vuccati paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ pariyosānakalyāṇañceva hoti catulakkhaṇasampannañcā’’ti (paṭi. ma. 1.158).

故说此为初禅后善的四相成就。

Ñ: Hence it is said: "The first jhāna is good in the end which possesses four characteristics"' (Ps.i, 167-68).
