Visuddhimagga IX-37

249. Sace pana evampi cittaṃ nibbāpetuṃ na sakkotiyeva, athānena evaṃ mettānisaṃsā paccavekkhitabbā –

8)如果这样依然不能息灭瞋心,则应如是观察其次的慈的功德:

Ñ(IX,37): But if he is still unable to quench that thought in this way, then he should review the advantages of lovingkindness thus:



‘‘ambho pabbajita, nanu vuttaṃ bhagavatā –

「喂!你这出家者!世尊不是说过吗?」

Ñ: 'Now you who have gone forth into homelessness, has it not been said by the Blessed One as follows:



‘Mettāya kho, bhikkhave, cetovimuttiyā āsevitāya bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya ekādasānisaṃsā pāṭikaṅkhā.

「诸比丘!修习多作实行确立熟习善勤精修于慈心解脱,当得十一种功德。

Ñ: "Bhikkhus, when the mind-deliverance of lovingkindness is cultivated, developed, much practised, made the vehicle, made the foundation, established, consolidated, and properly undertaken, eleven blessings can be expected.



Katame ekādasa?

什么是十一?

Ñ: What are the eleven?



Sukhaṃ supati,

即安眠,

Ñ: A man sleeps in comfort,



sukhaṃ paṭibujjhati,

安寤,

Ñ: wakes in comfort,



na pāpakaṃ supinaṃ passati,

不见恶梦,

Ñ: and dreams no evil dreams,



manussānaṃ piyo hoti,

为人爱敬,

Ñ: he is dear to human beings,



amanussānaṃ piyo hoti,

为非人爱敬,

Ñ: he is dear to non-human beings,



devatā rakkhanti,

诸天守护,

Ñ: deities guard him,



nāssa aggi vā visaṃ vā satthaṃ vā kamati,

不为火烧或中毒或刀伤,

Ñ: fire and poison and weapons do not affect him,



tuvaṭaṃ cittaṃ samādhiyati,

心得迅速等持,

Ñ: his mind is easily concentrated,



mukhavaṇṇo pasīdati,

颜色光彩,

Ñ: the expression of his face is serene,



asammūḷho kālaṅkaroti,

临终不昏迷,

Ñ: he dies unconfused,



uttarimappaṭivijjhanto brahmalokūpago hotī’ti (a. ni. 11.15).

不通达上位而得梵天界」,[PTS 306]

Ñ: if he penetrates no higher he will be reborn in the Brahmā-world" (A.v,342). [306]



‘‘Sace tvaṃ idaṃ cittaṃ na nibbāpessasi, imehi ānisaṃsehi paribāhiro bhavissasī’’ti.

如果你不息灭瞋心,则汝不能获得此等功德。

Ñ: If you do not stop this thought, you will be denied these advantages'.
