(3)「谈话」── 属于三十二种无用的谈话的为不适;因为会使他的似相消逝了的。
Ñ(IV,38): 3. Speech: that included in the thirty-two kinds of aimless talk is unsuitable; for it leads to the disappearance of the sign.
-

Han: Mahāsī Sayādaw wrote that 32 kinds of aimless talks are mentioned in DN 1 Brahmajāla Sutta. I found it in paragraph 1.17 of the book by Maurice Walshe.
"Whereas some ascetics and Brahmins remain addicted to such unedifying conversation as about kings, robbers, ministers, armies, dangers, wars, food, drink, clothes, beds, garlands, perfumes, relatives, carriages, villages, towns and cities, countries, women, heroes, street- and well- gossip, talk of the departed, desultory chat, speculations about land and sea, talk about being and non-being, the Gotama refrains from such conversation."
Mahāsī Sayādaw wrote that to the above list the ṭikā suggests to add the talks about forests, mountains, rivers and islands.
Dasakathāvatthunissitaṃ sappāyaṃ, tampi mattāya bhāsitabbaṃ.
若依十论事而谈者为适当,但亦应该适度而说。
Ñ: But talk based on the ten examples of talk is suitable, though even that should be discussed with moderation.
-
Note in Chinese translation: 「十论事」(dasa-kathavatthu)──1.
Han: As regards the ten examples of suitable talk, they are talks about (1) appicchatā (less greed), (2) santuṭṭhi (contentment), (3) paviveka (solitude), (4) asaṃsagga (not mixing with other people), (5) viriyārambha (extreme efforts), (6) sīla, (7) samādhi, (8) paññā, (9) vimutti (liberation), (10) vimutti ñāṇadassana (knowledge and vision of liberation).
