Ettāvatā ca panesa vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati (dha. sa. 160; dī. ni. 1.226).

(四种禅的修习法)1.(初禅)此上的修行者,唯有「已离诸欲,离诸不善法,有寻有伺,离生喜乐,初禅具足住」,

[THE FIRST JHĀNA]

Ñ(IV,79): At this point, 'Quite secluded from sense desires, secluded from unprofitable things he enters upon and dwells in the first jhāna, which is accompanied by applied and sustained thought with happiness and bliss born of seclusion' (Vbh.245),

Sayādaw U Sīlānanda: The word 'Quite' means not otherwise or definiteness. The word 'quite' also should be added just before - [quite secluded from].

Evamanena pañcaṅgavippahīnaṃ pañcaṅgasamannāgataṃ tividhakalyāṇaṃ dasalakkhaṇasampannaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ adhigataṃ hoti pathavīkasiṇaṃ.

如是他已证得舍离五支,具备五支,具三种善,成就十相的地遍的初禅。

Ñ: and so he has attained the first jhāna, which abandons five factors, possesses five factors, is good in three ways, possesses ten characteristics, and is of the earth kasiṇa.
