Gharaṃ paviṭṭhassāpi keci denti, keci na denti.
比丘进入人家乞食时,有的人给他,有的人不给他。
Ñ(XI,12): And when he enters a house, some give and some do not.
Dadamānāpi ekacce hiyyo pakkabhattampi purāṇakhajjakampi pūtikummāsapūpādīnipi dadanti.
给他的时候,又有的人把昨天所煮的饭、旧的糖饼及坏了的乳酥菜蔬等给他;
Ñ: And when they give, some give yesterday's cooked rice and stale cakes and rancid jelly, sauce and so on.
Adadamānāpi kecideva ‘‘aticchatha, bhante’’ti vadanti,
不给他的时候,有的人说:「希望别一家,尊师」;
Ñ: Some, not giving, say 'Please pass on, venerable sir',
keci pana apassamānā viya tuṇhī honti,
有的人就好像没有看见他一样的保持沉默;
Ñ: others keep silent as if they did not see him.
keci aññena mukhaṃ karonti,
有的人将脸转向别处;有的人好像没有看到他似的保持沉默;有的人别开他的脸;
Ñ: Some avert their faces.

keci ‘‘gaccha, re muṇḍakā’’tiādīhi pharusavācāhi samudācaranti.
有的人则粗恶地说:「滚出去,秃头」!
Ñ: Others treat him with harsh words such as 'Go away, you bald-head'.
Evaṃ kapaṇamanussena viya gāme piṇḍāya caritvā nikkhamitabbanti.
他这样像乞丐一样的行于村落中乞食之后,又必须回来。
Ñ: When he has wandered for alms in the village in this way like a beggar, he has to depart from it.
