Visuddhimagga VIII-94

Saṇṭhānato sarīrasaṇṭhānova hoti. Ayamettha saṅkhepo.

「形」──略而言之,与身形同;

Ñ(VIII,94): As to shape, it is the shape of the body in brief.



Vitthārato pana pādaṅgulittaco kosakārakakosasaṇṭhāno.

详言之:则足趾的皮如蚕茧之形;

Ñ: But in detail, the skin of the toes is the shape of silk-worms' cocoons;



Piṭṭhipādattaco puṭabandhaupāhanasaṇṭhāno.

足背的皮如皮靴套足之形;

Ñ: the skin of the back of the foot is the shape of shoes with uppers;



Jaṅghattaco bhattapuṭakatālapaṇṇasaṇṭhāno.

胫的皮如以多罗树叶包裹食物之形;

Ñ: the skin of the calf is the shape of a palm leaf wrapping cooked rice;



Ūruttaco taṇḍulabharitadīghatthavikasaṇṭhāno.

股的皮如装满米的长袋之形;

Ñ: the skin of the thighs is the shape of a long sack full of paddy;



Ānisadattaco udakapūritapaṭaparissāvanasaṇṭhāno.

臀的皮如装满水的滤水囊之形;

Ñ: the skin of the buttocks is the shape of a cloth strainer full of water,



Piṭṭhittaco phalakonaddhacammasaṇṭhāno.

背的皮如铺张在板上的皮革之形;

Ñ: the skin of the back is the shape of hide stretched over a plank;



Kucchittaco vīṇādoṇikonaddhacammasaṇṭhāno.

腹的皮如铺张在琵琶的空穴的盖膜之形,

Ñ: the skin of the belly is the shape of the hide stretched over the body of a lute;



Urattaco yebhuyyena caturassasaṇṭhāno.

胸的皮略如四角形;

Ñ: the skin of the chest is more or less square;



Ubhayabāhuttaco tūṇironaddhacammasaṇṭhāno.

两臂的皮如套入箭筒的皮革之形;

Ñ: the skin of both arms is the shape of the hide stretched over a quiver,



Piṭṭhihatthattaco khurakosasaṇṭhāno, phaṇakatthavikasaṇṭhāno vā.

手背的皮如剃刀鞘之形或栉袋之形;

Ñ: the skin of the backs of the hands is the shape of a razor box, or the shape of a comb case;



Hatthaṅgulittaco kuñcikākosakasaṇṭhāno.

手指的皮如钥袋之形;

Ñ: the skin of the fingers is the shape of a key box;



Gīvattaco galakañcukasaṇṭhāno.

颈的皮如包颈布之形;[PTS 252]

Ñ: the skin of the neck is the shape of a collar for the throat;



Mukhattaco chiddāvachiddo kīṭakulāvakasaṇṭhāno.

面的皮如有大小孔的昆虫的窝的形状;

Ñ: the skin of the face [252] is the shape of an insects' nest full of holes;



Sīsattaco pattatthavikasaṇṭhānoti.

头皮如钵袋之形。

Ñ: the skin of the head is the shape of a bowl bag.
