Sampādite pana tasmiṃ pātimokkhasaṃvarasīlampi addhaniyaṃ hoti ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, susaṃvihitasākhāparivāramiva sassaṃ.
假使根律仪戒成就,则别解脱律仪戒亦能长时受持,犹如善筑栅[zhà]围的谷田一样。
Ñ(I,102): When it is undertaken thus, virtue of Pātimokkha restraint is enduring: it lasts, like a crop well fenced in with branches.

Chew: I think 'also' must be added like the above, [restraint is enduring => restraint also is enduring], but Sayādaw didn't mention in his talks.
Han: No need to add 'also'.
Burmese translation is same as Ñ translation.
Na haññate cāyaṃ kilesacorehi, susaṃvutadvāro viya gāmo parassa hārīhi.
又如善护大门的村落,则不为盗贼所劫,而他亦不为烦恼贼所害。
Ñ: And it is not raided by the robber defilements, as a village with well-guarded gates is not by thieves.
Na cassa cittaṃ rāgo samativijjhati, succhannamagāraṃ vuṭṭhi viya. Vuttampi cetaṃ –
亦如善盖的屋,不为雨漏所侵,而他的心则不为贪欲所侵入。所以这样说:
Ñ: And lust does not leak into his mind, as rain does not into a well-roofed house. For this is said:
‘‘Rūpesu saddesu atho rasesu,
Gandhesu phassesu ca rakkha indriyaṃ;
Ete hi dvārā pihitā susaṃvutā,
Na hanti gāmaṃva parassa hārino’’.
对于色声味香触,
当护你的一切根。
若对色等门闭而善护,
譬如盗贼无害于村落。
Ñ: 'Among the visible objects, sounds and smells,
And tastes and tangibles, guard the faculties;
For when these doors are closed and truly guarded,
Thieves will not come and raid as 'twere a village' (?).
‘‘Yathā agāraṃ succhannaṃ, vuṭṭhī na samativijjhati;
Evaṃ subhāvitaṃ cittaṃ, rāgo na samativijjhatī’’ti. (dha. pa. 14);
譬如善盖屋,不为雨漏侵,
如是善修心,不为贪欲侵。
Ñ: 'And just as with a well-roofed house
No rain comes leaking in, so too
No lust comes leaking in for sure
Upon a well-developed mind' (Dh. 14).
